The Work You Will Do:
Fleet Manage / District Four / Director of Operations / District Maintenance
Oversee FDOT equipment repairs for timely, cost-effective service. Assist with shop scheduling, track maintenance costs, and recommend improvements. Monitor vehicle warranties, recalls, and coordinate fleet utilization and replacements. Supervise requisitions, fuel card programs, and in-house fueling systems. Maintain inventory data, generate reports, and train personnel. Evaluate shop efficiency, inspect rebuilds, and provide technical support. Conduct quality assurance reviews and ensure policy compliance. Track generator usage and movement during emergencies to support operational readiness across the District.

Annual Salary Range:

A Competitive Area Differential (CAD) additive in the amount of $1,248.00 will be added to the annual salary.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Coordinate with Operations Centers for equipment needs and review the utilization and condition of equipment to determine replacement need. Make recommendations and coordinate vehicle rotation to maximize fleet utilization. Aid management in tracking all related cost of preventative maintenance programs in the District and make recommendations on improving the overall program. Monitor all warranty work on vehicles and track manufacturer's recall notices to ensure vehicles are operating in an efficient and safe manner. Coordinates installation, repair, maintenance and replacement of radio systems throughout the district. Recommends to management the types, sizes and specifications of additions or alterations to existing systems and prepares requisitions for the procurement of equipment, parts, and supplies.
Diagnose all problems with in-house fueling systems and make effective repairs. Contact vendors when warranted to make necessary repairs to the fueling system. Supervise staff in processing requisitions for the replacement of equipment. Review all requisitions for accuracy. Review delivery of vehicles for compliance with specifications as bid. Make recommendations for vehicles found not to be within specifications.
Manage the administration requirements for the fuel card purchasing program. These requirements are supervising subordinates in ordering and issuing of fuel cards and Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) numbers. Approves all fuel purchases at commercial facilities within established guidelines. Assist in processing purchases as directed. Incumbent of this position has financial disclosure responsibility in accordance with Section 112.3145. Supervise Fleet Operations Staff and evaluate shop efficiencies in the areas of personnel use, material, and cost. Make recommendations to management as to the need for changes in the local shops. Review the District's rebuild program and make inspections during the rebuilding process in order to ensure that repairs are made in accordance with best practices. Provide shop personnel with technical information as requested and any other needed assistance related to the Department's fleet.
Create reports for fuel purchases and report any noted discrepancies. Monitor fuel levels during an emergency to ensure the District maintains appropriate fuel levels. Maintain inventory data in the the current Department fleet management and accounting systems. Prepare reports to assist management in making decisions related to fleet maintenance and utilization. Provide training to field personnel in the correct reporting. Track and report monthly delinquent preventative maintenance schedules for each yard. Maintains records as required by the Agency and the Federal Communications Commission; prepares written reports, and completion of required documentation such as inventories, inspection/repair reports, and report filing.
Perform Quality Assurance reviews of the fleet management program. Review fuel purchases and repair practices for compliance with policies. Conduct gate checks to ensure commercial vehicle requirements are being met and review shop work orders for accuracy.
Keep a current inventory list of all generators within the District and track their usage during emergency events. Monitor the movements of these generators during an emergency event by obtaining signed copies of the inventory list by the receiving office personnel. This will necessitate the tracking of the generators until the unit is returned after the emergency is completed.
